opening day

Saturday April 16th, 2011 was an epic day for huck and stuff. Beginning with a film shoot with MTV, then onto my opening reception at the Berkshire Museum and then back to the filming location for a totally rad dance party. I felt like a super star.

I want to extend my thanks to everyone who came out and showed support. Y’all rock!

Here are some pictures of the opening at the museum nabbed by Jenn Gomez, Lisa Kippon-Legault and Jay Elling.

And This One

Been busy busy busy lately in the huck and stuff doll factory. Say hello to Mister Lionface of Mneim, such a cutie.

January In New York

Another great weekend in the big city!!!

First Stop:

Christopher Henry Gallery to see the inspired work of Olek.

This work is amazing. Please, make your way to see this installation, its like nothing else. I also had the pleasure of hanging out with Olek in her studio. It was very gracious of her to make the time to invite me up to her work space. She is incredibly busy these days. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Next up:

Home Sweet Home Bar for a beer with a friend.

What a fabulous place to stumble upon! This bar is one of the coolest places I’ve been. It was made even cooler when the owner came down and fell in love with one of my masks. White Stag Pup is now home at the super swanky Figure 19 Bar / Gallery  (upstairs from the Home Sweet Home Bar.) This pup is so perfect on the shelf.

And Then:

I kinda fell in love with this little coffee shop in the East Village, Mud.

Giant steamy mugs of delicious coffee, great atmosphere, amazing music and fun conversation.

All together, a great time in the city. I got to meet lots of people, handed out tons of cards, made people scream and smile when they saw the dragon in my basket…. Went down with three masks, sold one, lost one! (So if you happen to come across an abstract, long locked mask thing, consider yourself the lucky one.) and if you snapped any shots yourself, please email me and I would be so happy to include them here on my website.

Until next time New York….

Inspired

I recently started a collaboration series with photographer Eric Korenman.

Inspired by Ingres:

and Sargent

Eric was interested in creating a traditional portrait image with dramatic lighting, elaborate period costumes and my masks. Here, you can see our first round of portraits. The process was a lot of fun and artistically rewarding.

Look forward to a series.

The Furry Convention!

We did it folks… We ventured into the Furry World.
Friday, October 29th, 2010 myself and four friends caravanned to Fur Fright in Cromwell, CT to experience first hand the cultural phenomenon know as Furries.

At the onset of our invitation, we each were a little intimidated by the idea of participating in this fringe community; but the intimidation quickly turned to intrigue and before you knew it we were making travel plans.

The anticipation was extraordinary. Unable to predict what we were getting ourselves into, we were giddy with wonder.

The moment we arrived at the convention was better than one hundred Christmas mornings. The parking lot was full of (very telling) personalized license plates from around the country. The lobby was overflowing with people, head to toe in fur.

We settled in to our hotel, and wandered around the convention, each wearing a mask I had made. We were in search of things we had never seen before.

Though the convention was like nothing else, I must admit, it was tame.

In a world of furries, we were the misfits. Our looks weren’t like the rest… thats okay, we are used to it…. But we quickly discovered that we are the party animals.

Here, take a look:

and here are a bunch of photos of the event as well:

I am so glad we went and experienced the fur fun, and maybe one day we will be back for more.

Until then,
Puuuuuurrrrrrr….

Bomber the Bunny

Hi Bunny, Bye Bunny.

Grab your passport Bomber, you’re headed to Japan.

Have fun at Design Festa, and don’t forget to write home!

Totally Keene

I was contacted by the kind folks over at the Colonial Theater of Keene, New Hampshire about displaying my masks at the theater to coincide with visit of the amazing Mummenschanz performance artists.

Here are photos from our visit to Keene for the Mummenschanz Mask Making Workshop. It was an amazing experience for my daughters to have a chance to work with a professional of the theater and to have a chance to be on stage and learn about the art of masks. My gratitude to everyone who participated.
